I’m Alex, founder and owner of The Dirt and Dust and your new personal guide.
The call of the wild is real. As human beings, we’ve spent almost our entire existence relying on the outdoors, exploring, and taking risks. We have an innate connection to our planet, one that makes us smile when a bird sings, laugh when bear cubs play, and fills us with a sense of sorrow when trees die. We care about this place. Yet nowadays, we are often doing our best to live alongside nature, as opposed to in it.
Do you feel that call of the wild? Do you get a thrill when hearing the wind through leaves while walking down a sidewalk? Do you want more?
The outdoors forever changed my life. In fact, I can’t imagine living differently. I grew up in Steamboat Springs in the Rocky Mountains, enjoying the sun, the snow, and the golden leaves of aspens in fall. Whenever I’m struggling with life’s challenges, nature has a way of simplifying things.
Now, I want to help you feel the same sense of contentment and accomplishment in an outdoor space. I want you to feel confident. I want you to feel safe taking risks and learning along the way. Most of all, I want you to see how life-changing a night in nature can be.
I made the Backpacking Survival Guide to help you take on a life-changing adventure. The call of the wild is real, answer it!
