Imagine…
- Setting off into the unknown with everything you need
- Feeling confident alone in the woods
- Knowing where and how to get fresh water
- Not having to spend hours reading blogs, watching videos, and scrolling Instagram to learn how to backpack
- Laying under a cottonwood tree, simply staring at the leaves, miles from any road!
For years, I’ve been a professional adventure tour guide for French speakers in the Western US and Western Canada. Now, I want to be your personal guide! Learn from my experience and enjoy the outdoors safely, confidently, and respectfully.
It’s not easy to get started on an adventure. There’s a lot to learn, and it can take quite a bit of time to track it all down in online videos, forums, and outdated books. Well, I’ve put it all into one place: my Get Outside Like a Guide online course. Check out the curriculum at a glance below.
Curriculum at a Glance
LEARN THE ROPES
Jump into a comprehensive class on everything it takes to get outside for (at least) one night in the woods. From packing your bag to cooking your meals, filtering water to adventure psychology, join Alex Handloff, environmental professional, guide, and outdoor enthusiast, on an educational journey of a lifetime.
SEE THE SIGHTS
Backpacking and camping provide an unequaled opportunity to experience the more-than-human world. It’s an opportunity to create a relationship with the most sacred and wise of all things: the planet itself. It’s an opportunity to look back in time through the layers of sedimentary rock into the history of our shared space. What’s holding you back? The Backpack Like a Guide class addresses common fears, challenges and logistical headaches.
TELL THE TALE
One of the most formative experiences is successfully navigating the outdoors and living to tell the tale. While your audience may not quite grasp what you accomplished, it’s not about them, it’s about you. Live a life filled with adventure, risk, and reward.
FAQ’s
How will I be supported?
The program contains a 6 module curriculum that will give you the step-by-step blueprint on what to do and when. There are assessments and questionnaires within the modules to help you determine which gear and adventures are right for you.
How long do I have access to the course?
How does 1 year sound? After enrolling, you will have unlimited access to the course for 1 year from the day you register.
What if I’m unhappy with the course?
We would never want you to be unhappy. You can request a full refund during your first 5 days of the course. This gives you the opportunity to get inside, peak around, and be sure the course is a good fit for you (it will be!). After Module 2 is released to you (5 days after you register), you will no longer be eligible for a refund.
Can I do an in-person class?
I will be developing in-person events in the future, including hikes, backpacking trips, slot canyons, climbing, and more. Sign up for my mailing list and you’ll be the first to know!
