GET DIRTY.
GET DUSTY.
GET OUTSIDE.

The Dirt and Dust® is a resource to help you take on the outdoors through classes, stories, podcasts, and photography. Dive in! And remember, nature knows best.

I’m Alex Handloff, your new personal guide. I want to inspire you to get outside.

I was lucky enough to grow up in Colorado doing everything there was to do outside; climbing, biking, running, backpacking, camping, rafting, and more. I then became an adventure tour guide for French speakers all across North America, visiting places like the Grand Canyon over 50 times! I’m lucky to have had these experiences and now want to share what I’ve learned.

Have questions? Reach out! Seriously. I would love to answer any questions or just talk about your trip: ahandloff@gmail.com.

Nature is good for the head, the heart, the whole body! But so many of us have lost that connection to the world around us. Nature is right next door, get out there and introduce yourself.

What is The Dirt and Dust?

It is my mission to get people outside safely, confidently, and with a sense of adventure. There’s a whole world out there to see. And it’s not just about seeing it. Spending time outside is proven to be beneficial to your wellbeing. But where do you start?

We’re here to help. The Dirt and Dust is dedicated to providing information, stories, and inspiration for taking on your next adventure. You can start right now with our Backpacking Survival Guide. It’s also useful for any type of camping or outdoor adventure.

Why I care.

Imagine a world where your computer is obsolete. Where your daily routine is to appreciate your surroundings. Imagine for a minute that you have no expectations and there’s no expectations of you — except that you respect the place you’re in and those who share it with you.

What is this place? It’s not a dream. It’s planet Earth. It’s the outdoors. It’s all around you and somehow so far removed. Bring nature back into your life, confidently, safely, and with a penchant for adventure. At the Dirt and Dust, we want to guide you back to humanity’s most treasured place — the place we call home.

What’s stopping you from getting outside?
